Dental Crowns & CEREC Same-Day Crowns in Kurri Kurri
A dental crown is your tooth’s “new roof.” It restores a damaged or weakened tooth to full strength and beauty. With our CEREC system, we can design, mill, and fit your crown in a single appointment—no temporary crown, no return visit.
When Do You Need a Crown?
Crowns restore teeth that are:
- Severely decayed — A cavity too large for a filling
- Broken or cracked — Damage that cannot be repaired with a filling
- Weak from root canal therapy — Teeth treated with root canal need crowning
- Cosmetically poor — Stained, misshapen, or otherwise unattractive
- Supporting a bridge — Crowns anchor artificial teeth
- Covering an implant — The crown sits on top of your implant post
CEREC Same-Day Crowns
Why wait two weeks for a crown when we can make it in one appointment?
The Traditional Crown Process (1-2 weeks)
- First appointment: Prepare tooth, take impression, place temporary crown
- Lab creates the crown (1-2 weeks)
- Return appointment: Remove temporary, try on, cement permanent crown
The CEREC Process (One appointment, ~1 hour)
- Prepare the tooth — We numb the tooth and remove decay or old filling
- Digital scan — We use a 3D scanner (no messy impression material) to capture your tooth’s exact shape
- Design — You see a digital preview of your new crown on the screen
- Milling — Our CEREC machine mills your crown from a ceramic block (about 15 minutes)
- Try-in — We try the crown in your mouth and check the fit and bite
- Adjustments — Minor adjustments ensure perfect fit and bite
- Bonding — We permanently cement the crown to your tooth
You leave with a beautiful, permanent ceramic crown in a single visit.

The Crown Procedure
Tooth Preparation
We numb the tooth and carefully prepare it by removing decay and shaping it to accept the crown. Some tooth structure is removed, but we’re conservative to preserve as much healthy tooth as possible.
Digital Design
Our 3D scanner captures your tooth shape. You’ll see a digital preview of your crown before we mill it, so you know what to expect.
Milling and Fabrication
The CEREC machine mills your crown from a ceramic block while you wait. The entire milling process takes about 15 minutes.
Fit and Adjustment
We try the crown in your mouth, check your bite, and make any adjustments to ensure perfect comfort and fit. This usually takes a few minutes.
Permanent Cementation
Once we’re satisfied with the fit, we clean your tooth, apply a bonding agent, and permanently cement the crown in place.
Crown Care
Your crown is durable and requires minimal special care:
- Brush and floss normally — Treat it like a natural tooth
- Avoid very hard foods — Don’t chew ice, hard candy, or use teeth as tools
- Wear a mouthguard — If you play contact sports
- Regular checkups — Visit us every six months for professional cleaning
Before and After
A well-designed crown restores your tooth to its natural appearance and full strength. Many patients are amazed at how natural their new crown looks.
Related Services
Crowns are often placed after root canal therapy to protect the treated tooth. They also anchor dental bridges for replacing missing teeth. If your tooth is beyond saving, a dental implant with a crown provides a permanent replacement. For cosmetic improvements to front teeth, porcelain veneers are a more conservative option.

Well-made ceramic crowns typically last 10-15 years or longer. Longevity depends on the tooth underneath, your bite, and how well you care for the crown. We can replace crowns if they eventually wear or fail.
The procedure shouldn't hurt because we numb the tooth with local anaesthetic. You may feel vibration from the drill or pressure, but not pain. If you're anxious, Happy Gas helps you relax during treatment.
